In addition to the conference, HEDW will offer the following optional training opportunities on Sunday, April 8, 2018:
Information Dashboard Design: Designed by Stephen Few, updated by Nick Desbarats, and based on the foundational book of the same name. Information Dashboard Design equips workshop participants with the fundamental principles and best practices that enable them to design information dashboards.
The Modern Data Ecosystem: In this intensive workshop, Joe Caserta, Founding President, Caserta, and co-author of the continual bestseller, The Data Warehouse ETL Toolkit (Wiley), gives a comprehensive look at the modern data ecosystem.
*optional training sessions are held from 8:00am to 4:30pm – The number of seats available for each course is limited.
The Higher Education Data Warehousing Forum is a network of higher education representatives dedicated to sharing knowledge about data management, best practices, data warehousing designs, institutional reporting strategies and more. HEDW members are technical developers, data access and reporting systems administrators, data custodians, institutional researchers and consumers of data representing a variety of internal university audiences. The annual conference sponsor is HEDW and is open to attendance by all interested parties employed in the focus area.
The host institution for the 2018 HEDW Forum Conference, Oregon State University, welcomes HEDW to Corvallis. OSU is the state’s Land Grant institution and is one of only two universities in the US to have Sea Grant, Space Grant and Sun Grant designations as well. Located in the beautiful Willamette Valley, OSU (Corvallis) is located within 60 minutes of the Pacific Ocean or the Cascades Mountain Range. Visitors to either location will discover an abundance of recreational opportunities.
The 2018 HEDW Forum Conference includes two and a half days of sessions and events with an optional Sunday Pre-Conference Training. Typical conference topics include data governance, BI strategy, data-informed culture, data quality, metadata and data definitions, data modeling, and project and program management, among other topics. The majority of sessions are prepared and presented by higher education peers, offering attendees a unique prospective.
