Data Governance – Necessary Evil or Just Plain Evil?

Presentation Summary

Indiana University (IU) is currently engaged in an ambitious multi-year initiative to transform decision-making across the university. One of the primary goals of this Decision Support Initiative as initially conceived is Data Definition Consistency, the mythical transparent “single source of truth”. This presentation will trace the evolution of our understanding of this concept over a two-year period and will detail our progress to date in realizing this elusive goal. In addition to Data Governance, topics covered will include technology and cultural change.
