Data Governance Strategies that Work

Presentation Summary

Many institutions struggle with ensuring that their data is accurate, well-defined and secure. Lack of access to data, lack of documentation, and missing or dirty data are all too common. Belmont University has implemented a university-wide system of data governance, led by the Office of Assessment and Institutional Research to ensure communication and cooperation among data stewards, enhance data integrity and standardize reporting. We’re not just defining terms, we’re strategizing about our data and processes. This presentation highlights the governance strategies that have been successful for us and a few of the challenges we still face in the process.
