Growing Data Governance at Purdue University

Presentation Summary

Data is an institutional asset. The definition of data governance varies. Progress in data governance requires a coordinated, focused community effort. In other words, it needs to be someone’s day job. The creation of standard data definitions, business logic and reporting practices allows for common understanding and trusted use of one of the institution’s most critical assets - data. As governance maturity increases, there’s a positive impact on both ends of the continuum; from more efficient operations to informed strategic decision-making. Data governance is a journey and taking first steps is critical. We will share Purdue’s steps toward data governance maturity.
