Data Vault Methodology Training
As data warehouse needs have continued to grow and evolve, situations have arisen that need different ways of modeling. One solution is Data Vault modeling. HEDW is excited to offer Data Vault Methodology training by Daniel Linstedt, architect and inventor of Data Vault, and Cindi Meyersohn, Data Vault 2.0 Certified Instructor and the founder of DataRebels (see bios below). The training consists of eight hours conducted across two days, with each day lasting four hours. The first day will be October 15, 2024 with the session running from 11am-3pm Eastern US. The second day will be October 17, 2024 with the session running from 11am-3pm Eastern US.
The cost of the training is $495 USD and is restricted to HEDW members.
Who should attend?
This course is for intermediate or advanced users. Users are expected to have the following experience prior to attending the training:
- 1 year of SQL experience
- 1 years’ experience of Star Schema or 3NF
- 1 year of data warehousing or BI experience
- Basic understanding of Dev/Test/Production environments
- Understanding data preparation concepts
- Knowledge of data modeling concepts
- What is a data warehouse? (You may be surprised!)
- How do we build them for audit-ability, flexibility, and resiliency?
- What is a Data Vault Solution?
- What engineering & data management principles comprise a Data Vault?
- What organizational areas does DV involve?
- How are the engineering & data management principles employed in the DV standards and recommended practices?
- Discussions about how to be more effective with agile teams.
- Practical approaches to small scoped, high value delivery.
- Learning how to engage business and map business concepts to enterprise data warehousing principles.
By consolidating these key concepts, topics and lessons, the CDVP2 course provides a thorough, practical education tailored for technical data professionals, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle modern data challenges and drive their organization’s data strategy forward.
Meet the trainers?
Daniel Linstedt
Daniel Linstedt is an American data and information architect and the inventor of the Common Foundational Warehouse Modeling, Methodology, and Architecture, a.k.a., the Data Vault System of Business Intelligence. He has co-authored three books, including Building a Scalable Data Warehouse with Data Vault 2.0; Super Charge Your Data Warehouse: Invaluable Data Modeling rules to Implement Your Data Vault (Data Warehouse Architecture Book 1), and The Business of Data Vault Modeling.
Dan and his team of 3 data engineers and architects at Lockheed developed and refined the methodology, architecture, model, and implementation components during nearly 10 years of research and development inside of Lockheed Martin’s Astronautics Division from late 1990 to 2000. Dan leaned heavily on the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and incorporated sound engineering principles found in Six Sigma (for error reduction), Total Quality Management, Lean Initiatives (for software development), Project Management Professional practices, Master Data and Data Management approaches to create Data Vault.
Dan holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from California State University, Chico. He has been working in the IT industry for over 38 years. He currently resides in Vermont with his family, and is the CEO of DataVaultAlliance Holdings, LLC and the founder of Empowered Holdings LLC.
Cindi Meyersohn
Cindi is a Data Vault 2.0 Certified Instructor and the founder of DataRebels, LLC. She started DataRebels in 2017 upon leaving the Intelligence Community after 17 years. Cindi is the COO of DataVaultAlliance. She has been in the IT industry since 1981, starting in a large telecom and eventually moving into technical consulting in the DoD.
